waffle house menu

I made an experiment of dining at both IHOP and Waffle House simultaneously to determine the winner, with IHOP providing tasty food at lower costs than its rival chain, while Waffle House menu offers more satisfying cuisine at lower costs than its competitor chain.

Both chains offered similar breakfast items at around the same cost but one was simply superior in my eyes; although IHOP offered smaller portions than Waffle House did – although at an additional price. Neither chain offered tasty cuisine that would entice me back any time soon enough.

Waffle House stands out as an obvious winner when it comes to large, affordable portions that taste delicious – this was evident by their inviting exterior design and welcoming ambiance of each location that I visited.

It was interesting being able to observe all that went on at Waffle House through its high-ceilinged windows; both inside and out. I found out there were only a handful of seats remaining!

I noticed a lively mix of rock classics and top hits was being played, including one of Jonas Brothers’ new songs: “Waffle House.”

At Waffle House, I ordered their All-Star Special along with plain coffee. Their menu offers various flavor variations.

Megan duBois

Their All-Star Special features delicious breakfast items: eggs cooked to your specifications; toast; grits; hash browns with your selection of meat; and waffles!

My choice was an eight-item breakfast menu consisting of scrambled eggs with cinnamon swirl toast bacon, hash browns, and basic waffles for $14.50 including tax.

I purchased plain coffee for $3.00.

My food arrived quickly and seemed freshly prepared, its warmth indicating it had just been cooked. For Megan duBois’ dining experience, it came quickly out and hot to the touch, showing it hadn’t lingered in its cold state for too long before my table could consume it all at once – not that this meant much, however – as portions were enormous; these dishes served separate items.

As this coffee was already quite strong and flavorful, I added sugar and cream to enhance its enjoyment for myself.

Waffle House waffles were dense yet delicious. I enjoyed their tasty waffle with good flavor despite its heavy consistency, according to Megan duBois who typically prefers large pockets in her waffles with plenty of butter added for homemade taste; however, at Waffle House, I got smaller squares instead.

My initial impression of the waffle was rather dense; however, after taking my first nibble of it was amazed at its delicious taste!

Waffle House makes life easy with shareable bottles of syrup; since I prefer my waffles without syrup, this was a great option to have on the side. Furthermore, there was individual wrapped butter which added an extra touch as I typically consume an excessive amount.

My homemade scrambled eggs were tasty and soft, while those at Waffle House offered excellent flavor. Megan DuBois meal also featured an ample portion of scrambled eggs seasoned well but without running together at all.

Cinnamon-swirled toast at Waffle House was by far my favorite part. While many regard their waffle as being their main attraction, for me the cinnamon-swirled toasts truly stole the show during my dining experience at Waffle House.

The toast was served pre-buttered with a packet of applesauce to add an extra dimension of flavor.

Megan duBois forwarded me three large pieces of crispy bacon cooked perfectly which were slightly salty to me, yet still delicious and enjoyable to eat.

Though salty, bacon slices added an irresistibly tasty contrast with the sweet cinnamon swirl toast.

Waffle House’s hash browns were crisp but lacking in flavor; nonetheless, there was much more to appreciate about their hashbrowns. When selecting my breakfast combo at Waffle House I went for simple hash browns since potatoes are my preferred breakfast food choice.

My initial thought was that the hash browns – cooked until they reached an ideal golden hue – required additional seasoning; however, since bacon can be salty at times I decided to quickly devour both items in two bites.

Breakfast at Waffle House was satisfactory overall; however next time, I’d like to spice things up a bit by trying more complex meals.

Overall, Megan DuBois and I enjoyed our morning breakfast experience at this establishment and felt that portions were sufficient given my cost of purchase.

Future goals of mine involve adding various toppings such as chocolate chips or pecans to my waffle, or jalapenos and onions to my hash browns, to add extra flavors.

Next, I visited IHOP with high hopes and was hopeful it would meet my breakfast expectations. Unfortunately, however, neither the exterior nor interior were particularly memorable during my visit; both seemed pretty standard chain restaurants to me, and neither experienced much energy during their visits; therefore neither were favorites of mine.

There was no music playing and it was quiet; yet, I remained hopeful regarding food deliveries.

Breakfast menus at IHOP feature an impressive array of combination breakfasts. To facilitate an accurate comparison, I purchased an identical dinner from them as well.

Megan duBois

For breakfast, I opted for the Belgian Waffle Combo which featured two eggs cooked to your preferred setting and two pieces of bacon or sausage along with waffle. Additionally, I enjoyed hash browns but decided against ordering cinnamon toast as this restaurant didn’t provide it.

My total food bill came to $15.50 with tax included.

Also, I paid $4 for a plain cup of coffee that wasn’t very enjoyable and tasted slightly burnt; adding sugar and cream did nothing to inspire me to drink it more, so after only taking two sips I asked the waiter for an ice-cold glass instead.

IHOP was not as impressive when it came to its waffles as Waffle House; therefore I wasn’t particularly taken with what was offered from IHOP. Megan duBoisalitat I was quite delighted by what I experienced at Waffle House and eager to try IHOP’s version, even if known more for pancakes; these waffles tasted similar!

This Belgian waffle was much too big for its accompanying bacon and eggs platter and contained large pockets to absorb syrup before being served with a dollop of butter for garnish.

Once I spread out the butter and took a large bite of my waffle, it quickly became evident that its texture was somewhat grainy – I was disappointed to discover this to be the case.

The eggs were beautifully prepared, yet I wasn’t particularly fond of their flavor. Unfortunately, due to limited time on my hands, I wasn’t able to finish all my scrambled eggs from Megan duBois’ plate of pretty and soft eggs.

I wasn’t too fond of the taste of the eggs; they reminded me too much of those found in breakfast or lunch sandwiches purchased from drive-thrus.

My opinion of IHOP bacon was unimpressive. Their interpretation of bacon-like portions did not satisfy me at all.

Megan duBois One of the hallmarks of good bacon is its crispy texture. Unfortunately, IHOP offered me two pieces that could have been cooked more thoroughly; these tiny pieces were mostly covered by other pieces in my order.

It had an ideal combination of spicy flavor and not-too-saltiness; however, its portion was somewhat disappointing.

The hash browns that I bought were fine; however, they were somewhat monotonous for my tastes.

Megan duBois My experience at IHOP’s browns of hash seemed slightly disappointing. While some parts were done properly with soft texture and crisp edges, others didn’t appear evenly cooked.

Waffle House’s hash browns were delicious. I particularly liked that their crispiness seemed evenly spread out across their entirety.

Waffle House was my top pick despite its flaws; breakfast at Waffle House beat that of IHOP hands down. for me, Waffle House won due to its overall design, presentation, and food quality.

Waffle House was my top pick for waffle eggs, hash browns, and bacon breakfast items; their All-Star status could be justified by their delicious food.

I was quite taken aback to see that despite offering smaller portions, the same meal at IHOP cost more.
